Louise came to us as she was extremely self-conscious about what she called her ‘beard’. In fact, she had what everyone has to varying degrees - fine, vellous hair, also known as peach fuzz. It was predominately on her cheeks and along her jaw line.
So, we were very happy to give her a free consultation at which we recommended dermaplaning. This is a very straightforward treatment, where we use a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently ‘shave’ the skin's surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin. It is a really satisfying treatment, both for us and our client, as the results are instantaneous. We can even show them what we are removing on the cotton pad we use to clean the blade after each stroke! Plus, it is entirely pain-free and has no nasty side effects or downtime, so you can even have it done in your lunchbreak.
One of Louise’s biggest concerns was re-growth – that by effectively ‘shaving’ it would promote more growth which would come back thicker and darker, which does happen with hair elsewhere on your body. However, with peach fuzz this is simply not the case and although the hair does return, it is the same downy fuzz and in no more quantity than before.
As with all of our clients, we spent time explaining to Louise what she could expect from the treatment, how long it would take and what products we would be using, as well as what to expect afterwards and the aftercare.
We think the results speak for themselves. Louise’s face is now not only free of peach fuzz, her skin is positively glowing. Her make-up will glide on more easily and she definitely left the Clinic feeling a lot more confident than when she came in.
